Precinct 4’s Parks Department encompasses over 3,800 acres and offers the public use of a variety of facilities and vast array of programs, most of which are free of charge. Additionally, Precinct 4 is in the process of developing trails in two greenway projects: Cypress Creek Greenway and Spring Creek Greenway.

Park amenities include baseball, football, and soccer fields; basketball and tennis courts; camping facilities; community buildings and meeting rooms; pavilions with picnic tables and barbecue grills, and playgrounds. The largest playground in Precinct 4 is located at Lindsay/Lyons Park in Humble, and this barrier-free playground is designed with all-inclusive activities so children of all physical abilities can play together. Other park amenities include canoeing and fishing, in-line skating and skate boarding, and hiking and biking to name just a few examples of the many recreational activities residents can enjoy at Precinct 4 parks.

Precinct 4 also boasts the regions largest collection of native and cultivated plants at Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens, located on over 300 acres of East Texas Piney Woods.

Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center preserves the American Indian and pioneer lifestyles commonly found along the banks of Cypress Creek and Spring Creek during the late 1700s and early 1800s. Annually, Jones Park hosts many free festivals such as Homestead Heritage Day in the spring and Pioneer Day the first Saturday in November.

Precinct 4's Parks Department offers the public state-of-the-art facilities, family-oriented events, and the tranquility of nature regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, physical ability, national origin, or religion.
